Why You Mad? Recently in the news, a teacher was accused and suspended for calling an African -American student, nigga. Many people are outraged because, this man did not lose his job. My question is, why? If you have ever used a racial, gender, or sexually derogatory slur, as a term of endearment, without any apparent malice intended. Why are you mad? I am not mad that he didn't lose his job. But, I'm pissed that he as well as many, feel this word is some cute term of endearment. I admit it. I use the word. But, if I call you a nigga, I mean it as it is define. As a disparaging term used to describe someone I think of as a lazy, ignorant-ass, waste of flesh (hell, you might even be white). That is just how I meant it. This man claims he used it to relate to the students. Hey, the students use it all the time. Now, if I'm his student, I would have to take a long hard look at my presentation and how I have represented or misrepresented myself. |

| Because, there must be a flaw in my presentation, if this person feels I can only relate to ignorance. Or that I would feel at ease with him using this term, around me. Bottom line. We have allowed society to become too damn complacent with the n-word. There's hateful slurs used to describe every ethnic group on this earth. None of which are considered, a cute term of endearment. Why is the word nigga? Somebody once said, by making it a term of endearment, the word is no longer venomous. Yeah right, until the wrong damn person uses it. If we want to accuse and hold others accountable for using the word, as a "derogatory slur", then we need to check ourselves first. Now ask yourself. Have you ever used that term without any malice intended? If your answer is no, then you have the right to cast your stone. If you answered, yes. Just sit down and shut up. Before you can get mad at someone else for using the term, you need replace that word as a term use to describe, someone you got love for |
